about

With an extensive background in music and education, Dr. Joanna Zattiero has branched out from the academic world into private consulting and public musicology.  Additionally, she has interwoven her lifelong experience with horses and horse training with her career in music to offer professional research and consulting services.  Dr. Zattiero is also available to help create unique, highly specialized musical dressage freestyle routines for all levels of both classical and western dressage, from Basic/Intro to Grand Prix.

Joanna grew up on her family’s working horse farm and has experience with a variety of different horses and disciplines, including competitive long-distance endurance competition.

Aside from horses, Joanna has dedicated a large part of her life to music, earning degrees in saxophone performance, music history, and musicology.  She has over a decade of experience teaching at the university level, has taught private music lessons for over 25 years, and has experience performing with ensembles of various sizes, from symphonic orchestras to chamber groups.

Joanna is also an active horse trainer and riding instructor, currently working with Katrin Silva of Katrin Silva Dressage.  The intersection between horses and music has become her most recent area of specialization, supported by her unique background in teaching, research, performance, and competition.
